Wednesday, March 3 of my spring break trip to NorCal, I had the pleasure of attending the Berkeley Poetry Slam at the Starry Plough with longtime best friend Aaron Dudek.

After a delicious dinner of Vietnamese cuisine and strolling through downtown Berkeley, we took the BART one station to Ashby and roamed aimlessly in search of the pub.

We arrived about 10 minutes late, but the place was packed. We stood in the back for the first few poems, then moved to the front and sat on the floor on mats.

The colorful banner behind the stage read “The Berserkley Poetry Slam.” The feature, Bonafide Rojas, didn’t fail to impress — nor did the the cast of local slammers.

Can’t wait for the next time I’m in the area. The Berkeley slam will be getting another visit.
